These cars were the first ones made at the VAZ plant that actually differed from the Fiat model. The shape, as seen from pictures, was dramatically changed, although it is up to you to decide whether it actually looks better or worse. The change of shape was accompanied by re-engineering many machanical parts. All of these newer "Ladas" are front wheel drive, a quality that is rare to Soviet cars.
