SHTZ-15/30 was intended for ploughing with 2- and 3-corpus ploughs. These tractors were made on Stalingrad Tractor Plant (1930-1937), Harkovsky Tractor Plant (1931-1937) and 2nd Auto-repair Plant in Moscow (1948-1950). Overall, 390,500 SHTZ-15/30 were made. This tractor was made to become the main means of mechanizing the agricultural sector in the 1930's. It was built based on one of the best tractors in the world - the american "International-15/30". However, the design of the american tractor had to be adopted to domestic (Soviet) conditions, standards and materials. For the purposes of manufacturing these tractors, in a very short time 2 of the biggest tractor manufacturing plants in the world were built - Stalingrad and Harkov plants. They had a joint capacity of producing 100,000 tractors/year. SHTZ-15/30 had a classical design based on a frame. This was the most common tractor in Soviet agriculture during 1930's and 1940's.
