The noticeable difference of technical parameters 1956 and 1959 series of
GAZ-62 is due to heavy re-engineering that took place 1958-1959. In its main parameters
early (1956) GAZ-62 is close to
american jeep Dodge-VK51. Even though so
many changes were made, the model index was not changed. GAZ-62 jeep could
overtake inclines of up to 32 degrees. The late model (1959) of GAZ-62 in a few
years gave rise to the very successful
GAZ-66.
